In this 1980s, Stanislav and Christina Grof developed holotropic breathwork as a means to invite nonordinary states of consciousness for healing and self-exploration. Grof® Breathwork is the form of breathwork currently practiced and taught by Grof Legacy Training, the international organization begun by Stan and Brigitte Grof in 2020.
This workshop represents the first Grof Breathwork experience offered in Southern California and brings together over a dozen experienced breathwork facilitators, who will be sharing facilitation and participating in the breathwork experience in celebration of the emerging Grof Legacy community in the United States. Participants will have a rare opportunity to meet many experienced practitioners.
In addition to providing valuable opportunities for psychological healing and personal growth, Grof Breathwork is currently being used as a training tool for those interested in better supporting work in non-ordinary states of consciousness. The skill set involves learning how to carefully prepare people for deep non-ordinary state work; how to create ethical, respectful, and safe settings; how to cultivate the naturally therapeutic presence critical for effective sitting or guiding; and how to provide skillful guidance related to the integrative process that follows a deep experience. All these skills have great relevance in relation to supporting those in psycho-spiritual crisis, the dying process, the recovery from trauma or addiction, or preparing for work in the emerging field of psychedelic psychotherapy.
For those interested in the upcoming Grof Legacy Training certification program, this workshop will be a useful introduction to Grof® Breathwork. The two breathwork sessions will count towards the experiential requirements in the GLT certification program and may meet requirements for individualized professional development or experiential learning in other programs.
COVID POLICY
Given current Covid trends, we will rely on testing prior to the workshop rather than vaccination for Covid safety (antigen testing on the day of the workshop for vaccinated participant and PCR testing up to 72 hours prior to the workshop for those not vaccinated). If you are traveling to Ojai, we suggest one antigen test before you travel and another on the day the workshop begins. Confirmation of negative results will be sent to our event coordinator, Alex Lopez. Should cancellation become necessary due to positive Covid results, your workshop fee will be refunded.
