The first collaborative workshop between Grof Legacy Training USA and the Grof Studies Program at Ubiquity University, this residential retreat combines four experiences of Grof® Breathwork (two as breather and two as sitter) with training in the use of natal and transit astrology for deepening understanding of nonordinary state journeys.
Considered the Rosetta Stone of the human psyche by psychiatrist and consciousness researcher Stanislav Grof and cultural historian Richard Tarnas, archetypal astrology can provide remarkable assistance in preparing for and integrating nonordinary state journeys. This includes work with psychedelics and Grof® Breathwork, the form of holotropic breathwork now practiced and taught in the Grof® Legacy and Grof® Studies communities.
For those new to the groundbreaking discovery by Grof and Tarnas of the correspondence between Grof's Basic Perinatal Matrices and the archetypes of the outer astrological planets, the theoretical basics of both Grofian Psychology and Archetypal Astrology will be introduced, with the benefit of real-time illustration of the methodology in the context of nonordinary state experience.
Whether you are an astrological novice or expert, this workshop will offer the opportunity to consider your own breathwork experiences through an astrological lens as well as the chance to learn from the experiences of your peers. We anticipate offering at least two tracks at the workshop, to facilitate learning for those completely new to astrology as well as those with experience. The workshop staff will include several archetypal astrologers who will guide small group discussions throughout the week, allowing understandings to emerge and deepen no matter your level of experience.
For astrological novices who wish to learn the nuts and bolts of chart preparation and reading, we offer an Early Arrival Option providing a daylong seminar in astrological chart mechanics. Whether you aspire to generate astrological charts in order to work with clients yourself or simply learn more about the archetypes, we hope to situate your learning within the context of your personal and professional journey.
When you register, you will receive an email from us with a link to a questionnaire in which we will ask you to indicate your experience with astrology and, at your option, to provide us with information to generate natal and transit charts for you. Our email will also recommend readings and viewings on archetypal astrology. Several weeks before the retreat, a community space will open for registered participants with additional preparation materials.

Attendance at this retreat provides two breathing and two sitting experiences counting toward the Grof Breathwork prerequisite for the GLT-USA Breathwork Facilitator Program and the experiential requirement for the Grof Studies masters and doctoral degree programs.
While this retreat is not a requirement for GLT-USA Training programs, it will supplement the core curriculum and provide important grounding in archetypal astrology for anyone interested in facilitating nonordinary state experiences or assisting with integration of those experiences. There are no prerequisites for enrollment in this workshop.
