About Santa Fe
Santa Fe is 7,000 feet above sea level so is considered high altitude which means it could take individuals about 48 hours to adjust. It also means it is very important to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. You may consider bringing electrolytes to add to your water which can help to mitigate symptoms of dehydration.

May is considered a transitional time of the year in Santa Fe which means the temperatures can fluctuate significantly over the course of 24 hours. The average temperature ranges from 72 degrees during the day to 41 degrees at night.

Preparing for your Grof® Breathwork Experience

These days leading up to this breathwork retreat are important in creating the context for your experience. We encourage you to be as intentional as possible as you prepare for the retreat. In doing so, you lay the ground for your experience as you prepare for this ‘adventure of self-discovery’.

We suggest that you take time to think about what prompted you to come to this workshop. Most people have some hope or expectation when they decide to do this kind of inner exploration. While we recommend going into the breathwork sessions with as open a mind as possible and without an ‘agenda’, being aware of specific hopes can provide a useful framework for integrating your sessions.

Also, notice your dreams, synchronicities, and any special insights that present themselves to you. What catches your attention? What peaks your interest? What feelings, memories, imaginations are evoked? In other words, be as curious as possible about yourself in your life. Who are you as you come into these four days of retreat?

Here are some things to consider between now and the start of the workshop:

If possible, give yourself some quiet time before you set off for the workshop. See if you can make an intentional break from the normal activities of your life, especially if you have a lot of demands in your life, whether at work or home.

Be conscious of your diet. It’s helpful to eat light and healthy foods, especially for a couple of days before the retreat.

With the exception of the prescription medications you listed on your medical questionnaire, please refrain from using mood/consciousness altering substances, including alcohol, for at least 48 hours before the retreat.

Unless you absolutely have to be in touch with people in the outside world, plan to leave computers, phones, pads, and other technology behind – or at least switched off for most of the time that you’re in the retreat. See if you can allow yourself the rare experience of being ‘unplugged!’
